The Human Route
Coming empty-handed, going empty-handed -- that is human.
When you are born, where do you come from?
When you die, where do you go?
Life is like a floating cloud which appears.
Death is like a floating cloud which disappears.
The floating cloud itself originally does not exist.
Life and death, coming and going, are also like that.
But there is one thing which always remains clear.
It is pure and clear, not depending on life and death.
Then what is the one pure and clear thing?
(Cambridge Zen Center publication, "The Human Route")
I recently flipped through a book about learning how to live a great life by learning from zombies. I thought it was a pretty interesting metaphor.- http://www.amazon.com/Zen-Zombie-Better-Living-Through/dp/1602391874 - one of the teachings that I took away from it was that zombies are very determined and focused and doesn't really let anything get in their way even if their legs get blown off.
Today I lost the final game in a table tennis tournament created for creative people presumably since it was organized by the Art Director's Club. I was disappointed to find out that I lost the game, the first place trophy, CS4 and some cash money to a table tennis club owner instead of to a fellow creative. Some people were outraged and I felt robbed given that the much need CS4 and money prize was taken away by someone who owns a table tennis club business and who has no use of the software other than to sell it while I am currently an unemployed graphic designer. Life is unfair at times and all you can do is keep on marching until you get through it. A lesson well taught by zombies.
Love come to those who still hope even thought they've been disappointed, to those who belive even they have been betrayed, to those who still love even thought they have been hurt before.
